Metrology Development Engineeer

This company is dedicated to working collaboratively with their customers, taking their projects from rapid prototype into high colume production. Their primary capabilities include: nitinol components, balloon expandable stents and balloon catheters, delivery systems, biomedical textiles, access kits, and guidewires. 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.

  • Two to four years experience in Metrology, Optics, Physics, Engineering or equivalent.

  • Formal training and experience with mechanical or electrical calibration a plus.

  • Experience with image processing and optical systems is preferred.

  • Experience in preparing laboratory documentation (work instructions, calibration procedures, analysis spreadsheets, reference documents and others) in a variety of formats including Word, Excel and Powerpoint.

  • Experience in performing audits on metrology and quality processes desired – along with root cause analysis of technical discrepancies/abnormalities.

  • Familiarization with method development, calibration, measurement development, laboratory auditing and root cause and Gage R&R analysis desired.

  • Strong engineering background in mechanical engineering, software engineering, and/or optics is highly desirable.

  • Project Management skills are highly desirable.

Skills and Responsibility:

  • Be a subject matter expert in metrology and inspection techniques applicable to vascular devices and components.

  • Be a leading expert in not only understanding the fundamentals of optical and other measurement techniques but also possess solid foundation to contribute to the development of the right measurement scheme for NDC’s metrology efforts.

  • Master in understanding and generating a path to how best to answer dimensional, surface quality, geometry, defect and other measurement requirements.

  • Demonstrate best practices in optical and other metrology techniques.

  • Ability to work in a matrix organization and contribute to the projects.

  • Be highly familiar with multitude of optical and other inspection systems and their limitations.

  • Be highly familiar with optical inspection programming schemes and techniques.

  • Possess high level of competency in reviewing, designing, and contributing to fixtures, tools, and hardware development efforts along with input into lab instrumentation and possible new technologies.

  • Firm understanding of relevant standards and calibration requirements is essential. Relevant standards include but not limited to ISO 13485, ISO 17025, ANSI/NCSL Z540-1, -2, -3, and NCSL best practices.

  • Ability to own and prove leadership qualities.
