Metrology Development Technician

This company is dedicated to working collaboratively with their customers, taking their projects from rapid prototype into high colume production. Their primary capabilities include: nitinol components, balloon expandable stents and balloon catheters, delivery systems, biomedical textiles, access kits, and guidewires. 

Education and Experience:

  • Associates degree preferred but not mandatory.

  • Five (5) years of experience in Optical Metrology or similar photonics field.

  • Formal or on-the-job training of MicroVu or similar metrology equipment.

  • Experience in programming optical dimensional metrology systems such as MicroVu, SmartScope, Nikon, Werth, etc.

  • Expert in communicating technical issues related to optical metrology.

  • Expert in organizational skills with regards to data gathering, organizing and basic analysis.

  • Highly skilled in method development, calibration, measurement development, laboratory auditing, root cause and Gage R&R analysis desired.

  • Experience in preparing laboratory documentation (work instructions, calibration procedures, analysis spreadsheets, reference documents and others).

Skills and Responsibility:

  • Possess expert level of understanding and use of dimensional inspection requirements and tools applicable to vascular devices and components.

  • Master in understanding and generating a path in how best to program dimensional inspection routines with optical inspection tools – especially MicroVu, SmartScope, and Nikon.

  • Demonstrate best practices in optical and other metrology techniques.

  • Possess high degree of competency in reading and understanding geometric dimensioning and tolerancing “GD&T “, part alignment, and engineering specs. 

  • Ability to work in a matrix organization and contribute to the projects.

  • Possess high level of competency in reviewing, designing, and contributing to fixtures, tools, and hardware development efforts along with input into lab instrumentation and possible new technologies.

  • Be familiar with relevant standards and calibration requirements - this is essential. Relevant standards include, but not limited to ISO 13485, ISO 17025, ANSI/NCSL Z540-1, -2, -3 and NCSL best practices.

  • Ability to own and prove leadership qualities
